I work in an office tower in Portland, where the quake was discernible and quite scary.
At the moment that the quake struck, I was on the phone with a client in Tacoma, who was explaining to me why the City of Portland was requiring him to do more than was necessary to put seismic upgrades in a building he owns in Portland. Then I heard the earthquake at his house (quite loud; he lives near the epicenter), and two seconds later I felt it here. Our phone connection was cut off.
I think his opinion about seismic upgrades has improved since this morning.
