I did not say one should not stay there for that reason. My reason is mainly its location. However, I think one should know this fact before booking. Plenty of people have no problem with it. In fact, one of my cousins have always stayed at Metropole during her recent visits to Hong Kong. But it's not nice for some people to find out after he/she arrives and not feeling comfortable with a place with such a recent unpleasant history.
