luggage update
USAirways regulars will not be surprised to learn that it was 9:00 PM the next day (27 hours after landing) that we got the last bag back. The usual saga - by noon, the computerized system said that both bags had been located and turned over to the deliver system and delivery would be within 4 to 6 hours. After 2 calls from the delivery courier for directions (don't these people own maps or access Mapquest?), he showed up between 3 and 4 PM. My daughter was out on an errand. He left only one bag! I spent the next hour trying to reach a human at baggage services. Spent 25 min on hold only to be disconnected. Called Gold Customer service - they could not get through to baggage. Called Consumer Affairs - they just transferred me to the same baggage afffairs line I had been on hold with before. Waited another 25 min on hold - got through to someone in El Salvador who couldn't tell me anything. He tried to call the Raleigh baggage office and could not get through - he gave me the number so I could try myself. I could not get anyone to answer (was the mute women working?). At 6:00 PM, the courier calls and says "gee - I still have one of your bags in my van". He finally brings it back at 9:00 PM. No major harm done - it was my teenage daughter and she had spare clothes at home - but it sure reinforces all the horror stories of checking bags with USAirways. Plus I spent about 1.5 total hours on the phone getting really annoyed.
