mid-October DSM-ORD-BRU, BRU-ORD-DSM (el cheapo ticket)
late December DSM-ORD-OGG HNL-DFW-DSM (YUP fare)

Thanks, in advance, to you AA experts. Please also let me know when I should call to activate the challenge.

I am assuming that you will start the challenge on October 16 (thus, the first ticket will be used after the 16th of October). I am also assuming that the first ticket was bought in deep discount coach (.5 points/mile -- in G, Q, N, O, S class), and the second ticket in Y class (1.5 points/mile).

For the DSM-ORD-BRU-ORD-DSM ticket you will get 9,320 miles -- because the challenges are based on points you will get 4, 660 points.

For the DSM-ORD-OGG, HNL-DFW-DSM ticket you should get 9, 092 miles. For the point bonus you will get, in total, 13, 638 points.

So according to my math you will get 18, 298 points which is more than enough for the Platinum Challenge.
