Get the card, and at least you will get the 5K MQM for your first purchase.
But if you are on track to make Gold this year and not be in reach of Platinum, you might hold off on that until 2006.
But since the OP notes his travel is centrally booked and billed, the travel expenses won't be of much use in doing the $25K/year deal. Maybe buy a new Camry? (homage to another thread)....
