Who are you flying into LAX with? If they have an interline agreement with AC you should be able to through check them to YYZ, but will still need to collect them to clear U.S. INS/Customs on the way through. Once past customs, just hurl them onto the conveyor belt then make your own way to T2 for boarding passes etc.
