Picking a few random dates, SFO-LAX and OAK-LAX is $126 RT. I have typically paid $68-$160 RT. The main reason I prefer the LAX gateway is the availability of upper class seats on the Virgin flights is far better and usually $100-$400 cheaper than SFO as I remember. Also LAX is cheaper to get to from the east coast or HNL.

And I do thank you for first alerting me to the Virgin CO hard block deal. I gotta try the A340 one of these days, still I love the B747.
