When I was at the Paddington Hilton in June they were asking £22 for a guest. Even though my "guest" was HH Gold and also staying at the hotel, it was going to cost me £22 for him to join me in the lounge. We decided to spend that £22 on some ales in a pub over the road instead.
But at the Kuala Lumpur Hilton where I am now, there is no problem taking in a guest. They have a book at the entrance requesting your name and number of people (not even asking room number). Its a very nice lounge for breakfast, snacks and pre-dinner drinks/nibbles.
