One year, I had elite on Continental, Delta, and United. I found that I did much better by pretty much sticking to one. Have you considered going for top tier on AA rather than mid level elite on two airlines? Just a thought.
I sometimes prefer the schedules of the other airlines when I have to fly to the NE part of the country. When I do have to travel on the other airlines, it is hard to go back to the status of a 'regular' passenger when I am a frequent traveler and unfortunately get used to the perks I have with AA. Traveling on other airlines for certain trips sometimes means being able to arrive home several hours earlier, or sometimes just a better flight schedule.
