I called yesterday since mine expires 8/31. The rep said I had until 10/31 to earn the 100 credits for renewal. Not sure what that really means, except I aksed if there was a grace period - there is not - if expired u cannot use it.

I need to top it off with some Amex miles to make the 100 cr threshold so will do this in August - just to be safe. Mrs. K likes the CP. I suspect at somepoint the plastic card will be history.
