Of course it is the dry season, so the game concentrates around the boreholes at Salt Lick... it's sad to hear it isn't thriving, and it is likely to be disposed of by Hilton soon.
July is absolutely the best time for the Masai Mara visit - the migration is usually full on then. Our trip with Ian (the perennial pilot!) was July 4 (1986, I believe,) and we flew over the migration. The drive back revealed lion prides, and hundreds of zebras and wildebeest piling up on the riverbanks, finally crossing and getting snatched by the awesome crocodiles - with a hippo pushing in to observe and not geeting any guff from the crockies.
