They do have cash upgrades out of some North American airports. Do a search on the BA board for this. You can upgrade any WT+ fare for 25,000 BA miles r/t. I agree with apudme that you should be able to get a discount WT+ for US$1,100 or so if you are willing to travel in October. Seems plenty of availability on the 42 day advance purchase. Travel in August based on a 14 day advance purchase starts at US$1,839 r/t. Mid summer is the high season for WT and WT+. Travel in September based on 42 day advance purchase starts at $1,265 r/t.
