I stayed at the 4 Points downtown in late June. The room was clean and the a/c worked well. The bathrooms are tiny (as in so tiny that the bathroom door can't close/open without taking up 100% of the floor in its sweep--nearly hitting the toilet).
What was a severe pain was getting in at 9:30 PM, having booked on SPG.com, and being told my room was "smoking". I said that was unacceptable, as I had booked "non-smoking." I was told for 4-5 minutes at the front desk that there was nothing they could do--that booking a "non-smoking" room was considered only a request and not a confirmed thing. I was very, very unhappy but remained calm and asked for a manager. The manager did find me a room, but it wasn't on the SPG floor. (My guess is that the desk clerk didn't realize she could change the search parameters?) They actually told me that I should always call the Starwood property the day of my arrival and confirm a non-smoking room was available. My business travel agent had never heard of such a thing.
Also, the parking lot was full, so I was told to go park in the lot around the corner and "pay the fee" by the bellman. I must have walked around that lot for 10 minutes looking for a way to pay for my parking before I walked back exasperated and inquired on where to pay. It turns out you just leave your car overnight (despite the many towing signs!) and then the morning lot attendent "tickets" your car with a notice to pay him when you retrieve your car. It sounds like a small thing now as I write this thesis, but after 4 flight segments that day, and an 8 AM meeting for which I needed to prepare, it was nervewracking.
The absolute BEST thing about this property (and I would use it again for just this reason) is that it's downtown and close to everything. It was so nice not being stuck by an airport with nothing but Ruby Tuesdays and Cracker Barrels. Cincy has some great water fountains and sculpture downtown. I walked around after my meeting and enjoyed myself immensely before my flight out of CVG. There's also a very large shopping center directly across the street that actually takes up the second floor of many nearby hotels/businesses with skywalks over the streets connecting it.
ETA: I did receive a comp breakfast coupon but didn't have a chance to use it so can't comment on the food...
