Yup, and thats really the bottom line. They can be replaced and I sure that it wont cost AS about 1/2 of what they pay the mechanics in salary and benefits. I hope that the union is honest with them and doesn't feed them mis-information like the ramp worker union.
If they aren't careful and make a good faith effort, I wouldn't be supprised to see all AS Maintenance outsourced and the union will deserve it.
Are you a ramper? What, exactly, do you know about what the rampers were told? I'm just wondering how you know that the rampers were sold down the river? Funny, I work at Alaska and I wasn't aware of that. It's funny how someone on the outside knows so much more about the intimate details of what's going on within the company than I, as an employee, do.
AMFA has made a good faith effort and I'm sure they will continue to do so. Heck, even management has admitted that our mechanics are on the low end of the scale, as far as compensation goes, when compared to other carriers. Perhaps you can enlighten us all on what exactly AMFA needs to do so that they don't all get the spanking you think they deserve????
