I should have stayed on vacation.....
I was coming back from CVG today via ORD. MY flight UA 1108 was scheduled to depart at 3:45, so when boarding commenced at 3:20 I thought great I'll be home for dinner! Makes up for the 8 hour ordeal of yesterday when ORD was on ground stop due to exteme thunderstorm activity.
Departure time came and went as a couple of stragglers came aboard, so I figured no problem, we probably waited for a late connection. By 4:00PM we still hadn't closed up so I was starting to sense something was amiss. After another 15 minutes the captain came on the PA and announced that only 1 toilet out of 4 on the 757 was serviceable. Of course the mechanics were working on the problem, but in the meantime, he would try and get dispatch to release us with just 1 functioning toilet.
After another 15 minutes the capatin came back and told us that we couldn't go with just 1 toilet functioning, so we just had to be patient and let the mechanics work. Almost 2 hours later we left with 4 fully functioning toilets. Since I've been on RJ flights when the crapper quit and we took off anyway, the question is how many heads need to work, in order for a flight to be legal??
God if you can't laugh, you'd be ready for the long sleeved sweater.
