My wife got the sad news late Sunday night that her younger sister had just passed away in Manila. She decided that she wanted to go to be with her family immediately. AC does not fly to Manila so they were able to confirm her yow-yvr-hkg and back on a bereavement fare and I booked her on Cathay hkg-mnl on internet. She also upgraded using SWU. The telephone calls to Manila and her family; getting her affairs in order for going away in Ottawa and the packing meant that she did NOT get a wink of sleep.
She left ottawa at 8:00 the next morning and arrived yvr on time. Her yvr-hkg had mechanical and was delayed by 8 hours. AC advised Cathay of the delay and got her on a later glight and knowing that she had not slept all Sunday night after the news, put her in a hotel to rest for a few hours. When she arrived HKG at 2:30 A.M., they also had her met by an agent who had made arrangements for her at an airport hotel to get a few hours rest before her connecting flight on Cathay at 8:00 A.M. My wife declined given that she would have to go through security and customs all over again and she would only get about 3 hours of use of the hotel at best. AC then put her in an airport lounge with a bed and shower for some rest.

These very nice touches by AC made my wife's journey much more comfortable. Thanks you Air Canada. ^ ^
