She said UA went out of their way to help, BA couldn't have cared less. That speaks volumes.
UA might have rebooked her but they also had to either revalidate or re-issue the e-ticket.
The flight number, booking class, and date on the e-ticket need to match what she is actually booked for.
If they had done one of the above, there would have been no reason why the BA staff could not have checked her in.
I'm willing to bet they just booked the next available BA flight and left it at that.
When she went back to UA, they probably said forget about it and involed her over to LH.
