Miss a BA flight and you're out of luck?
My wife is in the middle of an IND>ORD>LHR>BRU trip, a mixed ticket with UA to LHR and BA to BRU (M class ticket, upgraded C on UA, "R" on BA). Things were a mess in Chicago yesterday, and she arrived in London over 4 hours late, and missed her LHR>BRU connection on BA. She went to the BA desk to try to sort things out and was told that since she missed the LHR>BRU fight she was "out of luck", and that her "earlier ticket was only for that flight and had no value otherwise".
I'm not a frequent BA flyer, but this does not strike me as being right. I would have thought that BA would have accommodated her on the next BRU flight as a standby or tried to get a change fee (which she would have paid).
She ended up going back to UA who booked her on an LH flight through FRA, but I'm still puzzled on BAs stance.
Does this seem right to the regular BA flyers out there?
Thanks
Sean
