Hmmm, I see your point, too, but assuming we're both "elite" level flyers, and one has paid $250 T Fare, plus $25 upgrade fee and got a first class seat, but the other paid $1200 and could not get a first class seat wouldn't the $1200 person decide to fly UA instead? I don't know if that helps Delta raise revenues.

I don't know that Delta wants to give all of their first class seats away to T fares several months out, and I guess if you impose strict capacity controls then you haven't improve too much.

One thing is for sure, there are no easy answers.
