There is something to be lost. UA can change the routing or just restrict inventory based on orgin/destination (as they have started to do with flights in/out of IAD).

As is pointed out in the thread above, there is not much to be lost in posting a great fare, as it is likely to be pulled at any time. However once a routing is gone it is gone forever.

I recall posting that expedia's fare rules tool was (briefly) available. I purposely did not post explicit details for similar reasons (those that were familier with the tools, as well as those who looked at the FAQ were able to figure it out quite quickly). I was accused of being paranoid. But soon after some folks were a bit more explicit, the tool was yet again turned off.

I certainly can't force anyone not to post a routing, and I don't intend to try. But I do discourage anyone from doing so. And just because such a routing was mentioned in the past does not mean it should be mentioned again in the future.

As for educating folks, I would be fine with members PM'ing me and asking me what I meant about the "usual SJC" tricks - and in fact I was involved in a few pms about such.
