If AA can't 'see' availability is because they have not got it at their end. As you say it may well be that BA have availiability for their own BAEC members. What AA can do is to pass on a message to BA asking for a seat to be released. I have done it before (not with BA) but you need to find a cooperative agent that woud put a message through.
