Another major benefit of the Gold card for me is BVG or Best Value Guaranteed. This alone has paid for my annual fee many times over. If you purchase something and see it advertised for less within 60 days, Amex will refund you the difference. (Have to send in dated ad material.)

(*wood Amex has this feature too of course, and that annual fee is much less.)

Another feature I have used is the g'teed 30 return policy for stores that don't take returns.
