Actually, the moral is "Keep reading FT" as YYZnomad has noted, this subject is far from new. Sorry you had to experience this first hand, but it is always risky to change your plans if you've already confirmed your upgrades. Also, Club has been prominently displayed on AC's webpage as a feature of summer sked extra flights to Europe.
