Mrs P was shopping in Boots last week and discovered that they now accept Amex, so if you collect BA miles with Amex you now have another outlet to use the card.

However, be warned, the assistant serving Mrs P said that nobody had actually been told officially at Boots; so you might have to insist, if you try and use the card.
