I paid $25 to have some boots reheeled in Metairie, and this was in the 1980s! Considering the cost of shoes today relative to the price of repairs, I just toss them. I live in Mandeville, and I have given our shoe repair place a few chances but if they only charged me $10 to repair a heel, I would probably fall on the floor and kiss the ground.
If it's that little place in Lakeview that was there all those years and beers ago that gives you the good price, sigh, how well I remember it and the good deals they did have. Too far away for me now though.
