Not when I was booking. I certainly tried this, but the system caught it and priced it as ORD-AMS-ORD. Right now, for my dates, I'm finding the cheapest ORD-AMS-ORD is $822, which is exactly the same fare offered if I do the ORD-LHR with the stopover routine.
