If you are talking about P, then usually on flights 20 (4PM) and 18 (10PM) there will very likely be seats for purchase, even a 2 hours before flight time....
If you are talking about F, then usually on flight 178 (2PM) it will be most likely sold-out (by ways of YUP or F)......
The points is, the First Class cabin on a three-class aircraft SFO-JFK is usually available for revenue ticket purchase up to the point of departure, while the two-class First Class is often sold out (way, way) in advance...
