Recently, I was in South Africa, and at the Hilton in Durban, the concierge had a box of chargers for various devices left by prior guests. You were free to use as you wished.
While it is personal responsibility to take your own equipment, it seems as though it would be a nice thing to have available, just in case you forgot yours. Everyone knows how annoying that can be. Hotels do provide shaving cream, razors, toothbrushes, etc. I agree that those are relatively cheap and universal.
I agree that it would also be nice if manufacturers would make a universal adapter, so headphones, car chargers, plug chargers, etc., would be exchangeable. How annoying when you buy stuff for one phone and then want to change, that you may have to buy new accessories.
And slightly off topic, but why does a belt clip cost 15 dollars or more for a 10 cent piece of plastic?! Because it can...
