Since I don't have a lot of faith in interline transfers in general, and nowadays tend to travel only with a Travelpro, on the return I usually only check it to LHR, then pick it up and carry it onboard the UA flight home. So this won't affect me very much, BUT I'd still want to have the option--like suppose when you check in for the BMI flight you learn it's delayed an hour. This, along with all the other changes BMI is making, will probably send me on alternate carriers, and particularly BA (much as I hate T4!)
Pretty much the same for me. I'm saving a ton of money by breaking my PNR at LHR on an ORD-AMS flight (Yes, I know there are nonstops). 2 tix - one UA and one BMI saved about $500.00. Wonder if BMI realizes how much this will increase the number of carryons they'll need to deal with!
