any tricks to "EasyPass" vs. Standard reward?

I know we've all talked about the lack of award availability with Continental, but just wanted to see if any of you out there have a "trick" to figure out how to get the standard award. I mean, just to see "what-if", I went to continental.com and tried to book an award ticket for 2 people from IAH to Tampa, a year from now, in July 2003. The only awards available are the "EasyPass" awards which require 50k a piece, so 100k miles total. I know, it seems ridiculous since our miles are totally devalued, but is there any way around this? Can I ask to book the same flight as NW flight nunber/codeshare? It seems kinda preposterous CO is blatantly doing this... and being able to book our awards online proves the point-- I can understand short-notice flights, but 1 year out in advance? Doesn't this enhancement bother anyone and does anyone have any advice? I'd appreciate any insight into the matter... thanks!
