Thanks everybody for the ideas. I did call back and ask the same question again. Different agent, different response. Now booked on EI codeshare from JFK-SNN on original date. Agent didn't blink an eye when I asked him to preserve my routing via MIA.

So just one day in Ireland, but I've got lots of ideas about how to fill it. Might just have to make a second trip.
