Thanks for the insight from your experience. I guess that it does make sense that the owner discount can only apply if an MVCI owner is actually present for the stay. Fortunately you only are absent for one night.

As to how Marriott verifies whether one is an owner. I've never had to show any MVCI identiy on the numerous occassions on which we've done owner discount stays at timeshare properties. I assume that it shows up in your record locator whether you are a Marriott timeshare owner or not.

The discounts can range from 25% to 35% depending upon the resort and time of year. It's a nice perk for MVCI owners.

I am curious as to if an MVCI owner can book two villas, one for their own use and the other for another couple and receive the owners discount for both villas if they are booked under the owners name.
