Although I appreciate the suggestions. Especially about using NW code share and still fly co since coexp serves my city. My main point is If I wanted wn's bare bone service, where all you get is from point A to B, then I will just fly them. Why fly majors when there is no reason to. My reason was the extra amenities. As far as international, who cares about the miles, I'll fly the cheapest business or first class ticket I can find (consolidator or AMEXS Platinum) to my destination which offers the most service. IE LH, BA, CX etc..
My general frequent flyer plan is (was) to remain loyal to one carrier to accumulate miles and status as long as the fare is with in 15 to 20% of the competitors. Why, I like being upgraded, meals on planes, priroity boarding, free drinks, and waiting in the PC instead of the general boarding area. Then on vacations abroad, to cash in miles to upgrade to first class -business first. But now with the cut in service, and the unavailability of international upgrades, why remain loyal. If the majors become only price sensative, then I will to, and I'll probably fly wn 95% of the time.
I dont think the majors will survive by becoming big wns. Up to 9-11, CO seemed to understand this, that is why I chose them over AA. Now, I am considering just flying Wn domestically, where I know what to expect.
Co no more enhancements, or you will loose all of your elite flyers.
