Warning about GPS Neverlost France
I thought I would pass along a warning that the GPS system available in France (or at least in my own experience) is NOT the familiar Neverlost system that I expected.
I reserved the car with Neverlost on the Hertz website, thinking that I would use it to make driving around France easier (particularly with the winding streets of Paris).
However, upon arrival at Charles De Gaulle (CDG), I quickly realized that the build-in GPS system was in French. I played around enough with it to determine that it had the possibility of working in many languages and I found the configuration screen and changed it to English. However, the next message that stopped me read "Insert English CD."
With a typical French attitude, they informed me that they only have the French CD, and no other languages. No apologies or explanations. Paris is, after all is the most visited city in the world. You might think that having a car navigation system in a few other languages (perhaps English or Spanish or Chinese, anything!) might be something worthwhile.
Non. So be warned.
It makes me wonder about other international locations where the first language is not English, since I'd never asked for Neverlost outside of the US before.
