It's my understanding that it's on a case by case basis if the bag is gone less than 24 (or is it 48?) hrs. She'll have to call Lost Baggage Claim and find out. Having (unfortunately) used the system twice, at least you can track your bags-either online or by phone.

The first time DL lost my bags in LGA, I had to buy a shirt, socks and some boxers before my biz appt that morning. Fortunately, Macys was nearby. I bought my clothes and changed in the bathroom.

My luggage was delivered to my hotel later that afternoon (<12hrs), so they weren't going to reimburse me for my purchases. The 2nd time they lost my luggage, I was OK b/c I was prepared-I packed some spare clothes in my overstuffed, wheelie computer bag.
