Lost baggage

When our luggage was lost going to St. Lucia in January, we were told that if our luggage arrived within 24 hours, we were entitled to nothing. If it arrived later than 24 hours, we were entitled to $25 each unless the luggage was actually lost in which case the tariff rule kicks in. The luggage actually arrived in St. Lucia in 22 hours (our flight had been delayed), but wasn't delivered to us until 26 hours after we deplaned. For $25, it didn't seem worth picking a fight, therefore, we never actually tested the system.
