During their last strike (I think it was a pilot's strike, whole airline was shut down for a few weeks). I tried to change a flight during the strike with 72 hours notice. They were an absolute no-go on any changes until 24 hours before departure. My flight was over a busy travel period (some holiday, not sure which one) and other flights were pretty full... waiting until 24 hours before departure was nerve-wracking at best.

Regardless, unless they have changed their attitudes, you're going to have no luck with your pre-emptive move against the possible strike.
