There are actually two other groups. EXP/PLAT are actually the first to board once Y boarding begins. All the EXP/PLAT/GOLD used to be considered group 1. Now group one usually includes Golds and I believe those seated in the exit rows. People are grouped based upon where they are sitting. Group 2 would be those in the very back of the plane, group 3 would be those basically behind the exit rows, you get the drift.
