I have already been to the Lonely Planet's Thorntree website, but am looking for something with more local participation.

The absence of cheap (by Indian standards) internet access shows here (since people lingering on the internet or having readily available methods to circumvent connectivity issues is not a given at most people's homes and offices). This will change in the next two or three years, very quickly, as broadband and at-home PCs become far more prevalent.

In the meantime, what you see is basically what you get; mostly junk.

Rediff used to have a somewhat functioning message board, but I don't much care for such things and don't know if it still does or not. http://in.yahoo.com/ might be an option too, but neither is going to be like a Flyertalk for India.
