Yes, but they may not have been able to book you into D on some of those routes which is why you will get economy status credits as D class was not an offered booking class on those routes. I am assuming you took a Oneworld Business class ticket which books into the D booking class where offered, and L booking class if D is not available - this means that if that D class is not sold on that route, you can only book into L thus giving you those pidley economy status credits even though you paid for a business seat. On the other hand, certain domestic routes allow you to book into J even if the J seat does not exist. This gives the user the ability to have a slightly more flexibility than a full Y class seat. Whilst you will be seated in an economy cabin, you will of course get full business class status credits as you were actually booked into the J booking class and the system will accept you as being in J.
I don't believe all booking classes are sold on all routes - e.g. Australian domestic services don't have booking classes like cheap 'I' class business seats in Europe.
