Crowne Plaza properties are definitely more like Holiday Inns (and they should be since both brands are under Intecontinental Hotels Group) . They're generally cheaper than other Priority Club properties (if you collect points), and a good alternative to Marriott or Hilton properties.
Domestically, I could only remember staying on La Guardia Crowne Plaza. Their basic room was modern with very comfortable beds and nice amenities such as sleeping aid kits, and even coffee makers if I remember correctly.
Internationally, I've stayed at Crowne Plaza Kuala Lumpur, and I have to say that this property was beautiful and highly comparable to other 4 star properties in the area such as Hilton, Sheraton, and Le Meridien.
