Maybe they've got specially enhanced service levels in the US. Last time I stayed in a Holiday Inn in England (outside LON), I was spending around £100 a night on an executive room- and it was worth it.
Or perhaps Crowne Plaza service levels in the UK exceed those in the US. It often is the case that the non-US locations of US chains are far better. I have yet to find a decent Marriott property in the US, for example, but some of their international properties are pretty nice.
