I would suggest seeing if JQ will give you a refund for your flight given the magnitude of the delay. If you are flying into .au on a One World flight, then I would suggest contacting AA in the USA and booking SYD-CNS using a LOZPASB fare. The base fare should be AUD295 each way plus a few dollars taxes from AA.

The LOZPASB fare isnt the cheapest fare that QF offers , but is pretty low and is fully flexible
