If you are not a member of the rental company's "no counter" club (Blue Chip for Thrifty) you often get sales pitches for insurance, etc. The WORST is Alamo. I've never had such a problem with Thrifty. Regarding gasoline, all rental companies have the 10 mile(or so)+receipt rule. I've never had anyone ask to see the receipt though.
