Keep in mind that these systems are designed for the warnings to sound while there's still plenty of time to take corrective action. I've heard the "traffic, traffic" warning on flights before: it may sound alarming (no pun intended), but it really is not a big deal, so long as the appropriate corrective action is taken (and it always is: when was the last time a commercial aircraft was involved in a mid-air collision?).
