My colleague with Treo 650 just got back from France and Germany where he was thrilled getting email and text messages - if concerned about cost, you should make sure you unlock the phone (I assume it is GSM) and get a SIM card in France which includes data - otherwise check with your cell provider and pick up whatever package covers where you are going for that time frame (then cancel it) - obviously another issue is whether your 650 has been stable, cuz you can't hard reset without a resynch...but that's for the Treo forums!!!
