I sympathise with you, and it is a question worth asking at the next AGM which I plan on attending, but I really do not like your chances.

The attitude from Qantas will be "Tough luck, you chose to fly on JetStar, you are JetStar's problem." JetStar will, on the other hand, offer to refund your money, but the cheap seats on QF and DJ will now be gone, and you will have to pony up the extra $$$$.

Qantas and JetStar can claim all they like that they are two totally seperate operations, and should not be confused. The problem is that in the minds of the public they ARE indeed linked, and the antics of JetStar do nothing more than tarnish the Qantas brand in particular, and Australia in general, and this is not something which should be taken lightly.

Doesn't help you in your case, but well worth a question at the AGM.
