Citi Aadvantage Business Card-beware
My family has 4 Citibank credit cards, two of which we use to the tune of approximately $60,000 annually. My wife asked me last month when her statement came if we should renew her business mastercard, since they've upped the fee to $75 (it was $50 for us last year). We tentatively decided to cancel it and just use the others since we didn't have a balance the last two months, but haven't really called to do it until tonight.
Apparently, we're at 35 days from the date of the charge: the Citibank representative REFUSED to refund the charge, insisting we owe it, and will not cancel the charge. My memory was you had 60 days to cancel the card, but he says no, it's now 30. He couldn't care less what my usage on the other cards is; we're screwed.
I intend to call back tomorrow during business hours and try to reason with someone, but Citi is a pack of jerks: I'll just cancel one of the other cards instead, if this is how they treat me. In fact, two of the other cards. And a good reason to push as much as possible of the spending from our businesses and personal stuff to STARWOOD AMEX and other cards.
You should be aware that since at least this jerk is suddenly acting like a complete stickler, your relationship with Citi may now be a little thornier. If you decide to cancel a card, prepare for both an argument, and make sure you do it VERY timely.
