My absolute favorite was not long after September 11. I was at LGA on a US Shuttle to Boston. The DCA shuttle was loading at the next gate and they were doing the full secondary screen of people at the gate. It was a real workover for the lucky ones selected back then. So as I am watching I see someone getting the full secondary, purse dumped on the table, taking everything apart, searching all over the person and so forth. And the person getting the search was Im guessing on the age, but maybe early to mid 50s, female, US Army Lt. General in uniform. I almost said, to the screeners how safe they made me feel to see they were spending so much time checking those army generals, they are well known high risk passengers. But I figured that would earn me a cavity search so I just observed in disgust and amazement. The general by the way, looked so pissed off she could barely contain herself.
