For me it was right after 9/11 and the National Guard was protecting the airports. In fairness nobody quite knew what the new rules should be.
But at a check point right past the WTMD, a security worker was wanding a Guard who still had the rifle in his hand. Maybe they were worried he had a knife?
It was one of those moments when you wish you had a camera!
6 weeks to the day after "9/11" I was on BOS-LAX #174 (was #175 when I booked the ticket, but well...); got to BOS waaaaay early, & on the other side of the checkpoint were reps from just about any & every law enforcement organization you can think of, including the aforementioned Nat'l Guard. Several of them had dogs (bomb, drug, whatever) & all the dogs were in a pig pile sound asleep!!!
